DSA San Diego joins Rise for Climate Day of Action – 9/8

SAVE THE DATE – On September 8 DSA San Diego will join thousands of people marching locally and around the world in the Rise for Climate day of action, demanding immediate action on climate change. As proponents of ecosocialism, we hold there is no such thing as a capitalist solution to a crisis caused by the most world’s most affluent economies, and that real action means dismantling the global capitalist order and promoting just, ecologically sensible society in its place.

Activities begin 10:00 a.m. in Civic Center Plaza with a rally and short march to South Embarcadero Park. Join us and represent!

Here is a link to our recommendations for the June 5 Primary Election.

The recommendations in this document were chosen at a special San Diego DSA meeting on April 29,
where the candidates and issues were discussed and voted on.

The pdf file can be printed as a single double sided sheet, and can be copied, emailed or distributed.

The format is useful in filling out a mail ballot, or can be taken to the polling booth.

HGO appointment meeting

DSA San Diego chapter members in good standing are encouraged to participate in a special meeting convened by the Socialist Feminist Working Group on Thursday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Building (4133 Poplar Street). The meeting’s focus will be appointment of two Harassment Grievance Officers, key positions required by DSA national and defined by our imminent DSA San Diego Grievance Procedure.

Deciding votes will be cast by a majority woman-identifying/non-cisgender body, with representation by members of color and non-cisgender members mandatory for a quorum.

Seeking Harassment Grievance Officers

DSA San Diego is seeking two members in good standing to serve one-year terms as Harassment Grievance Officers (HGOs). HGOs will take responsibility for facilitating grievances filed by DSA San Diego members related to all forms of identity-based oppression perpetrated by fellow members, a process crafted with the intent of preserving our chapter as a safe, fair space modeling the world we’re trying to build through socialism. Further, HGOs will survey members and document their willingness to participate in ad hoc grievance proceedings.

Interested candidates are asked to notify the DSA Steering Committee at sandiegodsa@gmail.com and to participate in an appointment meeting convened by the Socialist Feminist Working Group at the Brown Building (4133 Poplar Street), May 3 at 7:00 […]
